As part of Red Box International’s planned expansion into Eastern Europe, the Ground Power Unit (GPU) manufacturer took a stand at the recent HeliRussia exhibition at Moscow’s Crocus Expo Centre.

With 128 exhibitors, the HeliRussia event proved to be considerably more popular than was originally expected, with the organisers twice having to relocate to a larger hall. From an initial 4,200 m2 projection, the actual show occupied 10,750 m2.
“Our principal objective was to make contacts in a completely new market,” explained Red Box Marketing Director Adrian Jackson. “We are aware that the Russian helicopter market in particular is on the increase and saw HeliRussia as the ideal opportunity to introduce ourselves. Our unique combination of reliability and economy did in fact stimulate a lot of interest and we met several people from organisations interested in representing Red Box in Russia. We are already at an advanced stage of negotiation with Moscow-based Infinity Aviation and Inilab Ltd we hope to start shipping product in the near future.”

As one of only a handful of foreign exhibitors, the Red Box team had initially been apprehensive about the potential language barrier. “We had no need to worry,” says Adrian Jackson. “The show organisers provided us with a superb translator, who helped us throughout the show. Both she and the organisers went out of their way to help us, as indeed did most of the people we met during our all-too-brief stay in Moscow.”

With a range of portable Ground Power Units suitable for almost all aircraft, Red Box International has become a familiar sight at civil and military air shows around the world. They also manufacture Continuous Power Supplies and high current Transformer Rectifier Units. Their next scheduled appearance in Russia will be 17-19 September this year, when they will again be at the Crocus Expo Centre for Jet Expo 2008, the Russian International Business Aviation Exhibition. Red Box will be sharing stand C180 with Infinity Aviation.
