The Aeriane Sirocco is a single-seat ultralight aircraft, available in kit or fully assembled form, featuring a pod-and-boom design with a tricycle undercarriage and pusher configuration. The fuselage is constructed from composite materials, and the aircraft has two detachable wings for easier transport. The wings are designed with a spar and fiberglass leading edge, connected by compression rods, cables, and ribs to enhance aerodynamics. The coating is “Bainbridge” Dacron, and once in place on the fuselage, cables and a kingpost secure the two wings.
The vertical fin and fuselage are made of a lightweight fiberglass-polyester frame, with a molded aerodynamic shape. The landing gear is constructed from glass-epoxy, featuring a flexible main gear and a steerable front axle with a brake drum. The two-stroke engine, ranging from 24 hp (18 kW) König SC 430RD to 40 hp (30 kW) Rotax 447, is mounted on the back of the central mast, with manual starting. The pilot is in a recumbent position in the cockpit, secured by a 3-point belt. The canopy is removable, allowing flights without it in hot weather, and there’s an electric heater for winter use. The pilot’s seat is fixed, but the rudder pedals are adjustable, and a mini control stick is centrally located. The one-piece tail-plane is controlled by rigid rods and ball joints, with a trim tab for speed adjustment and improved comfort.
