The Nomad is a utility aircraft manufactured by the Government Aircraft Factories (GAF) since 1975. In the mid-1960s, the Australian Army expressed the need for a new aircraft, and initially, GAF proposed a single-engine development. However, this proposal was promptly rejected, prompting GAF to reconsider and redesign the aircraft, recognizing that a twin-engine variant would be more suitable based on combat experience. The finalized design incorporated Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities, compact Allison 250 engines, and surpassed the military’s requirements. While the Australian Army initially purchased the first Nomads, subsequent sales were insufficient, leading to the cessation of production in 1985.

This includes the 709 tug, the RBSC300 continuous power unit, ideal for diagnostic work, pre-flight checks, or continuous powering of equipment during operations without draining the onboard aircraft batteries. Additionally, the RB50A is available for starting the aircraft, assisting in avoiding hot starts. We also provide a combination of start and continuous power in one unit for the GAF Nomad aircraft in our TC3000 range.
