Another year at Goodwood Festival of Speed has finished and although Red Box International were not exhibiting at Goodwood’s Aviation Exhibition this year, we did have some of our GPUs powering aircraft at the event still.
In 2012 Red Box International and Goodwood Festival of Speed came together to create the Goodwood Festival of Speed Aviation Exhibition, we are proud to be official partners with the show, bringing our GPUs to the exhibition. These GPUs are designed to offer variation of power needed for aircraft, and the units are capable of supplying power to aircraft on the ground.
The theme for this year’s show was: “Peaks of Performance – Motorsports Game Changers”, but, the Festival of Speed is about much more than just cars, the aviation industry is celebrated at the festival too, and there is plenty of action there! The exhibition, this year sponsored by Shell, is a great chance to get close to the aircraft on display. The record breaking Siemens eFusion electric plane was at the show this year, which is said to be the future of aviation.
The Red Arrows wowed the visitors to the show throughout the weekend with their brilliant displays, providing a great show for both kids and adults. Not only could you view the aircraft at the event, but there was the chance to see the show from the air, with helicopter sightseeing flights, giving guests the best view of the event taking place below!
Other aircraft at the show included, Oriens, the UK distributer of Pilatus aircraft, with the PC-12 on display. They also hosted a bespoke arrivals lounge at the Goodwood Aerodrome, giving a warm welcome to visitors flying into the event for the weekend. Alongside the PC-12 were aircraft from the Royal Navy, the Westland Lynx Mk3 helicopter, as well as Textron, Cessnas and Nicolas McLaren. The Goodwood Flying School had the 1943 Harvard on display, this drew a huge crowd, and some lucky guests were able to climb inside this brilliant aircraft.
A special guest to the show was Tim Peake, with the “Tim Peake: An Extraordinary Journey” exhibition, thanks to the Novium Museum, replica space suits, robotic arms and lots of interactive areas were on display.
The Aviation Exhibition provides the perfect place for fans to get up close to aircraft and to speak with people in the industry as well as view a wide range of both modern and historic aircraft.
