Airbus Helicopter (Eurocopter) H225 (EC225 Super Puma MKII+)

The Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma, now known as the Airbus Helicopters H225, stands as a long-range passenger transport helicopter that was introduced in 2004. As the new generation of aircraft in the civil utility Super Puma family, developed by Eurocopter, it addresses the demand created by the 1973 oil crisis for advanced rotorcraft to be employed in offshore extractions.

The EC225 represents a significant advancement, building on the foundation of the predecessing AS332 Super Puma. It features improved rotor technology powered by new Turbomeca Makila 2A engines, necessitating a re-designed gearbox. The development also includes a new airframe to reduce noise and vibration, enhancing comfort and cost-efficiency compared to many of its competitors. Marketed for various roles, including public and VIP passenger transport, the primary configuration remains offshore support.
