The Airbus A400M Atlas is a quad-engine military transport aircraft developed by Airbus Defence and Space, formerly known as Airbus Military. This aircraft was designed in response to the FIMA group’s requirement for a new tactical airlifter with strategic capabilities, aiming to replace the aging fleet, including the Transall C-160 and Lockheed C-130 Hercules. The A400M Atlas features an airframe composed mainly of composite materials, with carbon fiber reinforced plastic wings and a T-tail.
