The Beechcraft King Air 300 was developed as the successor of the popular King Air 200/B200. The new model utilises a more powerful engines, two Pratt & Whitney PT6A-60As, and was designed with a neater airframe. This allowed for the Beechcraft King Air 300 for increased MTOW of up to 14,000 lbs, however this had generated an issue with certification in several countries at the time. To aid the problem with certification Beechcraft also designed the aircrafts lighter counterpart, the King Air 300LW, which had maintained the lower MTOW.
