Following the acquisition of Canadair, along with their Challenger 600 jet, Bombardier set out to create a high-speed, longer-range business jet capable of seating eight passengers. The low-wing airframe, constructed from semi-monocoque composite material and aluminium alloys, aimed to deliver a lighter aircraft, featuring fuselage-mounted twin Rolls Royce engines. Introduced in June 2020, the Global 5500 emerged as an advanced model with redesigned wings, ensuring improved fuel efficiency and overall performance.
