DeHavilland Dhc-2 Beaver

The De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, a single-engined aircraft renowned for its Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) performance, is manufactured by De Havilland Canada. Originally equipped with a Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior radial engine, the placement of this engine was strategically located as far rearward as possible to enhance performance and facilitate maintenance access. Since its debut in 1948, the aircraft swiftly gained popularity, particularly as a bush plane, and its adaptability and robust construction made it widely utilized in various sectors, effectively handling diverse weather conditions. The DHC-2 Beaver found applications in cargo and civil transport, private aerial applications, and even as a floatplane following the installation of floats on numerous aircraft. Plane & Pilot hails the DHC-2 Beaver as “arguably the best bush plane ever built.”
