Introduced in 1975, the Enstrom F-280 Shark comprises a family of small, light helicopters powered by piston engines, gaining increasing popularity for its outstanding performance, with modern iterations still actively flying. Developed by Enstrom Helicopter Corporation, the F-280 Shark initially featured a Lycoming HIO-360-F1AD engine, later modified in subsequent variants to enhance performance. Further refinements were made in later models before production, introducing more aerodynamically advanced versions like the F-280 C and the latest addition to the line, the F-280FX with a more streamlined stabilizer configuration.
