The Pilatus PC-24 is a light business jet produced by Pilatus Aircraft in Switzerland, being introduced in 2013. Inspired by the predecessing PC-12’s commercial success, Pilatus was eager to develop a complementary aircraft, carrying out a survey in the general aviation market. Based on the contemporary demands in 2007, the aim was to retain the ruggedness of the PC-12, while improving on range and and top speed. The PC-24’s cantilever monoplane construction was fitted with jet engines for the first time, utilising the Williams FJ44 turbofans.
Pilatus also emphasised the importance of maintaining the aircraft’s capability to operate from short and uneven airstrips, developing a new wing design for this purpose. The finalised PC-24 competed with such aircrafts as the Embraer Phenom 300 or Cessna’s Citation CJ4.
