Boeing P-8 Poseidon

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon, formerly known as the Multimission Maritime Aircraft was developed by Boeing based on the preceding 737-800ERX. Boeing proposed this aircraft in response to a military requirement announced by the U.S. Navy, which sought a maritime patrol aircraft capable of serving in both anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare operations. While developing the military variant, most of the original features of the 737-800ERX were retained. Additionally, the P-8 Poseidon introduced a strengthened fuselage and re-envisioned nacelles and wing mountings to enhance the flying experience. Several improved avionics were installed, along with a variety of optional ordnance. The P-8 Poseidon entered service with the U.S. Navy in 2013.
