Cessna Citation I 500

The Cessna 500 Citation I is a compact twin-engine corporate business jet, marking the inception of the Citation family. In the late 1960s, Cessna unveiled plans for an eight-seat jet, presenting the Fanjet 500 prototype, subsequently refined and re-designated as the Citation. The aircraft was equipped with twin Pratt & Whitney JT15D-1 turboprop powerplants and featured straight wings, resulting in a cruise speed that was notably slower than its contemporaries at the time. Despite Citation I not achieving the expected success, it served as an excellent foundation for subsequent variants, including Citation II.
