The Lockheed JetStar, designated as C-140 in the US military, is a business jet manufactured by the Lockheed Corporation and was introduced in 1961. This JetStar marked the inception of the business jet category, designed to fulfill this purpose from the early stages of its development. The aircraft’s airframe featured a swept wing and cruciform tail, along with wet wings capable of storing 10,000 lbs of fuel. The C-140 designation was assigned to 16 models produced for the U.S. Air Force, primarily serving in airborne testing roles.
