The EADS CASA C-295 is a twin-engined tactical military transport aircraft manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space (now EADS CASA). The aircraft’s design is based on the preceding CASA CN-235, featuring an extended fuselage to accommodate additional payload capacity. Uprated Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127G turboprop engines were installed, and production commenced in 1997. Airbus Defence has developed various variants of the C-295, with configurations available for roles such as aerial refueling, short take-off and landing capabilities, as well as more general cargo or passenger transport operations.
