BAe HS-748

The Hawker Siddeley HS 748, originally designed and manufactured by Avro, stood as a medium-sized turboprop airliner and marked Avro’s final aircraft development before their dissolution. The aircraft’s development initiated in the 1950s with the aim of establishing a presence in the civil and export aviation market, intending to replace the widely used but outdated Douglas DC-3s. To ensure the HS 748’s success, Avro strategically employed two Rolls-Royce Dart RDa 7 Mk engines, renowned for their capabilities and optimized for reliable Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) performance. The first series was announced in 1960, with later variants including the Hawker Siddeley HS 780 and the Super 748.
