Eurocopter Bo 105

The Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105 stands as a light, twin-engine, multi-purpose helicopter. Bölkow initiated the development of the groundbreaking hingeless rotor system in the early 1960s, preceding the actual planning of the rotorcraft in 1964. The Bo 105 was meticulously crafted with a strong emphasis on maneuverability, aiming to achieve higher cruise speeds than its contemporaries. The hingeless rotor marked a significant innovation in helicopter history, capturing considerable attention in the avionics market. Production commenced at the recently merged Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm firm in 1967. Distinguished as the world’s first light twin-engine helicopter, the Bo 105 also held the distinction of being the initial rotorcraft capable of executing aerobatic maneuvers, ushering in a new era for helicopter production.
