Fairchild Dornier Dornier 228-100/200

The original Dornier Do 228 stands as a twin-turboprop utility aircraft renowned for its Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) performance. Designed and initially produced by Dornier GmbH, the inspiration for this aircraft stemmed from the development of a prototype utilizing their newly innovated ‘TNT’ airfoil. In a strategic move, Dornier opted to equip the prototype with twin TPE331-5 engines. Following a successful flight, the decision was made to embark on the development of a new model, leading to the introduction of the initial Dornier Do 228-100 and -200 presented to the public in 1980. Demonstrating STOL capabilities and accommodating up to 19 passengers, the Do 228 proved to be a reliable and enduring aircraft. Presently, it serves various roles, including passenger and cargo transport, as well as military missions.
