The Gulfstream G100, (formerly known as the IAI Astra SPX) is a twin-engine business jet, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries, and produced for Gulfstream Aerospace. The Astra was developed in the late 1970s, based on the IAI Model 1124 Westwind, with minor changes and modifications to aid better performance and modernisation. The IAI Astra received certification in 1985, with deliveries commencing in 1986. More powerful variants were soon added to the line, one of which was the IAI 1125 Astra SPX, with advanced Honeywell TFE-731-40R-200G powerplants. Once Gulfstream Aerospace took over in 2001, the aircraft was re-designated the Gulfstream G100, and marketed under this name.
