Northrop E2C Hawkeye

The Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye stands as a carrier-capable tactical airborne early warning aircraft, crafted and manufactured by the Grumman Aircraft Company in the late 1950s. Designed as an all-weather twin-turboprop model, the E-2 aimed to replace the diminishing-demand E-1 Tracer. Uniquely tailored for the specific role of airborne early warning, the initial model faced reliability challenges, leading to the prompt development of subsequent variants to address and optimize the design. The second-to-latest E-2C Hawkeye boasted more powerful T-56-A427 engines and advanced avionic systems. Notably, E-2 Hawkeye variants have maintained continuous production since 1960, marking the lengthiest production run in the carrier-based aircraft category.
