The Pilatus PC-6 Porter is a single-engined STOL utility aircraft designed and manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland, with productions starting in the late 1950s. The Pilatus PC-6 is a small utility aircraft with STOL capabilities, which became succesful and extensively used over its production period. This comes as a result of the aircrafts versatility, as it can easily be modified for a variety of roles. These include the fitting of floats for water-landing, customisation for parachuting, air medical services or search and rescue tasks. Initially, the aircraft was tested with a variety of different engines, none of which performed up to the expectations. Pilatus Aircraft had then decided to utilise the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engine, which had proven to be favourable, the first model powered by this engine flown in 1996. After around 600 deliveries in six decades, Pilatus produced the last one in early 2019.
