This helicopter evolved as a turbine-powered counterpart to the preceding piston-engine R44. The aircraft is equipped with a Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft engine, known for its compactness and lightweight characteristics compared to the previously utilized Lycoming engine. The company has ensured that the acquisition, operation, and maintenance of the aircraft remain cost-effective. Notably, the R66 continues to thrive as a successful training helicopter and remains in production to this day.
