Saab 29 Tunnan

The Saab 29 Tunnan, a fighter aircraft, was conceived and manufactured by Saab in the 1940s. Its development followed the Second World War, arising from the recognized need for stronger air defense forces in the Swedish military. During this period, Saab aimed to leverage their newly developed jet propulsion technology and introduce other innovations into the aviation market. Despite its compact size, the Saab 29 Tunnan proved to be a formidable aircraft, powered by the DeHavilland Ghost engine, enabling it to outpace the DeHavilland fleet then in possession of the Swedish military. Production spanned from 1948 to 1956, with the last aircraft retiring in 1976.
