Boeing KC-46

The Boeing KC-46 Pegasus evolved from the preceding 767 jetliner model, serving as a military aerial refueling and strategic transport aircraft. The U.S. Air Force identified a need for an aerial refueling aircraft, designating it under the KC-X tanker project. Boeing presented the KC-767 tanker for this purpose, winning the competition in 2011 and subsequently being renamed KC-46A within the U.S. Air Force. The KC-46 retained most of the original features of the 767, including a conventional tail and retractable tricycle landing gear. The design incorporated a hydraulic flight control system, and the Pratt & Whitney PW4062 engines were selected to power the aircraft. Deliveries commenced in 2019, with additional KC-46A aircraft currently on order.
