Saab 340

The Saab 340, a twin-engine turboprop aircraft, was developed and manufactured by Saab AB of Sweden, later transitioning to Fairchild Aircraft. Prior to conceiving this aircraft, Saab AB expressed interest in entering the civil aviation market to meet the contemporary demand for a short-haul airliner with a capacity of at least 30 passengers. It was decided that the aircraft would incorporate turboprop propulsion, leading to the selection of twin Electric CT7 engines. The Saab 340 was in production for less than five years before its discontinuation, as the company shifted its focus to the more promising Saab 2000 derivative.
